What do the Children do?

  • We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (0-5 years), which carries the children on into their Reception Year at Primary School.
  • We have a weekly theme and the children essentially learn through play, building on their individual interests and needs, using the stimulating resources we provide.
  • The children have regular, supervised, access to the forest environment – a great place to learn!
  • “Forest Schools” sessions are also offered in a local woodland.
  • We have close links with Hyde School and visit regularly, so that the children feel comfortable with their transition to school.
  • We also exchange visits with other local feeder schools, including Fordingbridge Infant School, during the Summer term.
  • We welcome visitors to support our ‘People who help us’ topics – including Policemen, Firemen, Doctors, and Vets.
  • We also make visits to places in our community – for example the library, Blashford Lakes and Hyde Garden Shop/Tea Rooms.
